The current tax rate is 0.00255. This amount is on the accessed value of your property.
The algorithm used in the assessment process is to consider the value of property within one quarter mile of your property to assign a value to your particular holding.
Businesses are assessed based on the personal property and the equipment value. Again a computer is used. The software is called “Computer Assisted Mxxx Appraisal” CAMA, sorry I did not catch the “M” of software title.
Property is currently accessed on a four year cycle, it is going to be changed to one year. The handout Mr. Ballard provided is in a section below titled Tax Documents.

8/8/2024 General Meeting Speaker - Dr. Josh Van Pelt Mooreland Heights school
KPD – Officers Michael Hutchens an Dylan Nobel came to the meeting. Officer Hutchens led the discussion on the alleged “Drug House” in the Southeast portion of Colonial village. They are gathering events and visitor logs to build a case against the current occupants. The house is a rental that is owned by a less than reputable landlord with several other shady tenants about town. Officer Noble will replace Officer Hutchens as the police representative.
Speaker – Dr. Van Pelt. Gave a description of the current situation at Mooreland Heights school. They have increased the staff and have about 400 students this year. Student progress is measured over years, not a quick fix, but is constantly improving. Absenteeism has steadily decreased over the years.
There are now two preschoolers rooms – three year old's. There was no PTA at Mooreland Heights but one has formed along with the “Rocket Foundation” that provides aid and support for the school. There is a rocket mounted in the playground that serves as a school icon. There are about 17 kids in a class now, twenty teachers and two “specialist teachers”.This year as an introduction for the staff, teachers visited the neighborhood that the student body comes from, to give the teachers an idea of the student body environment. The staff encourages “self care”, friendliness and love as part of the curriculum in addition to the standard fare.
As usual members bought school supplies for the current year.
